Challenger LSS

Rotax 503

Pegasus Airpark

The Challenger 2, Light Sport Special is powered by a 503 duel ignition, duel carb, 52 HP Rotax two cycle engine. Building took twenty months in our garage with the final assembly being completed at Pegasus Air Park.

Empty weight is 503 Lbs. with doors off and 517 Lbs. with the side door panels installed.

The test flight was completed on September 21, 2009 by EAA member Ron Sheridan. Take off speed is 38 MPH solo and 45 MPH duel, best angle 43/48, best rate 48/53, Stall 30/35, cruise speed 75- 85, top speed 90-100 with a VNE 0f 120 MPH. Working duel in the pattern it's burning three GPH on 89 octane non ethanol fuel.

10 hours of the 40 phase one hours have been flown off. The aircraft is economical and fun to fly with great visibility.

I'd like to thank my wife Stella and boys Andrew and Nicholas who lent a helping hand when needed. Much thanks to Chapter 839's technical advisors and members for their help and support.
